February 6th 2004. Slow collection of I D card / Name and address of printer of election publicationThe Antigua & Barbuda Electoral Commission is urging all persons who have not yet collected their Voter I D cards to do so by the 15th of February , 2004. Peter Gordon, spokesman for the Commission, says the distribution of these cards is not moving as fast as envisaged. He says the concern of the Commission was heightened following the week during which the distribution centres were open from 9 am to 6 pm in order to facilitate persons who finish work after 4 pm daily. He says there was no noticeable increase in the collection of the cards. Meantime, the Commission is drawing to the attention of all candidates in the upcoming general election section 29 H of the Representation of the People ( Amendment ) Act 2001, which says …. A person shall not -- print or publish, cause to be printed bills, placards or posters referring to an election or any printed document distributed for the purpose of promoting or procuring the election of a candidate; unless the bill, placard, poster or document bears upon the face thereof , the name and address of the printer and publisher. A candidate acting in contravention of section 29 H, shall be guilty of an illegal practice and any other person so acting, shall be guilty of an offence and upon summary conviction be liable to a fine not exceeding five thousand dollars. The Antigua & Barbuda Electoral Commission is requesting that persons concerned should take note of the above and act accordingly.
